Fertility Reflexology

The term infertility is used when conception has not occurred after 12 months of trying for a baby. You may have had tests which show that there is nothing wrong with either you or your partner and have been diagnosed with “unexplained” infertility. Or you may have a child already but are finding it much more difficult to fall pregnant this time – known as “secondary” infertility. Perhaps you have a known medical condition such as PCOS, a blocked fallopian tube or scar tissue from Pelvic Inflammatory Disease which may be affecting your chances of conception.

The ability to conceive is dependant on many factors but is more likely to happen if you and your partner are in good health. The effects of modern life can have a significant impact on health and therefore on fertility too, for example:

  • high levels of work-related stress
  • regular high alcohol intake
  • erratic eating patterns
  • poor diet and/or ‘convenience’ foods
  • being under or over-weight
  • excessive working hours
  • work-related travel (especially long-haul)
  • too much or not enough exercise
  • smoking

Reflexology works in a subtle way on a physical and emotional level and is especially beneficial for those experiencing fertility issues. The calming and soothing effects of a reflexology treatment will help relieve this stress and tension and could be a crucial first step in letting go and allowing your body to clear emotional blockages and address any lifestyle issues. Reflexology treatments may also help by:

  • enhancing the body’s own natural healing abilities
  • encouraging all body systems to function efficiently
  • assisting the elimination of toxins from the body
  • return or regulation of the menstrual cycle
